Invitation to International Symposium on C-O Activation (ISCO)

You are cordially invited to participate in the International Symposium on C-O Activation (ISCO-2016), which will be held during October 25-27, 2016. ISCO will be held in the Himeji Chamber of Commerce and Industry, in Hyogo, Japan. Himeji is a beautiful city that can be reached from Osaka in one hour, and is well connected to Kansai International airport. Himeji has many historically interesting sites, including Himeji Castle, the first World Cultural Heritage site in Japan.

ISCO is a new forum that is intended to bring researchers who are involved in C-O bond activation together. Similar to the field of C-H bond activation chemistry, C-O bond activation has emerged as a powerful methodology with numerous applications, since current advancements in organometallic and catalysis chemistry now enable us to activate inert but naturally abundant alcohol, ether and ester derivatives for use in further chemical transformations. In addition to fundamental aspects of C-O bond activation, including catalysis, organometallics, synthesis and mechanistic aspects, more applied issues, such as lignin valorization, are also covered in this conference. This represents an ideal opportunity for researchers who are involved in this field to meet and to discuss how urgent and important this field of endeavor actually is.

The scientific program for this conference will include invited lectures, short communications and poster sessions. On behalf of the organizers, we hope that you will consider joining us in attending this conference.

Prof. Naoto Chatani
Chairperson of ISCO
